 |
| General Description: |
Pacific halibut (Hippoglossus stenolepis), a true giant among flatfish, is the most popular salt-water species in the area. |

The average size for a halibut ranges from 35-40 lbs with larger ones, in excess of 150 lbs., being taken on a regular basis. The largest halibut ever caught weighed close to 500 lbs.
|
| Availability: |
Halibut fishing is productive throughout the summer months. |
| Angling Opportunities: |
Single day charters prove successful since halibut and other desirable groundfish are found in close proximity to the shoreline during summer months. Time permitting, a portion of the day may even be dedicated to trolling for silver or king salmon. |
| Recommended Tackle: |
Relatively heavy tackle is required and will be provided by our charter captains. |
| Table Fare: |
Numerous cooking methods are employed to prepare this delicious fish. The flesh, when cooked, is white and firm. For those not as concerned with healthy eating habits, beer-battered & fried halibut is hard to beat. |
