Chum Salmon
General Description:

Chum salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) also commonly referred to as "dogs" have the canine-like teeth to fit the bill.

Physical Attributes: The average size of a spawning "dog" runs from 10-15 lbs. and may actually exceed 32  pounds with larger specimens. 
Availability: Chum salmon are available throughout the summer months in  streams and off saltwater beaches. 
Angling Opportunities: Chum salmon are typically hooked as a by-product when targeting other species.
Recommended Tackle:

Spinning:     Medium-heavy rod in 6-8' range with 10-18 lb. test monofilament will suffice.

Fly-fishing:  Graphite fly rod in 6-8 weight class. Floating lines with sinking tips are recommended.

Lures and flies should be purchased locally.

Table fare: Chum salmon are best served after being smoked.
